Embracing Imposter Syndrome: Insights from the Latest Episode of Hoshirio

Peaceful sunset by the sea.

In the latest episode of Hoshirio, we delve into a topic that resonates with many: Imposter Syndrome. This pervasive feeling of self-doubt and inadequacy is something that affects more women than men, and it’s a struggle that I, too, have faced. When I first started offering energy healing services to my clients, I was constantly plagued by the fear that I wasn’t good enough. I worried that my clients would be disappointed or even angry with me.

Understanding Imposter Syndrome

Imposter Syndrome is not about a lack of ability or competence. Instead, it’s about the struggle to internalize and accept our own achievements. It’s about the fear of being exposed as a “fraud,” despite evidence of our success. This syndrome can be particularly challenging for women, who often face societal pressures and expectations that exacerbate these feelings.

My Personal Journey

When I began my journey in energy healing, I was terrified. The fear of not being good enough was overwhelming. But I realized that the only way to overcome this fear was to face it head-on. I had to “feel the fear and do it anyway”. There is a book by the name written by Susan Jeffers which is a classic. By continuously practicing and putting myself out there, I gradually became more comfortable and confident in my abilities.

Tackling Imposter Syndrome

So, how can we tackle Imposter Syndrome? Here are a few strategies that have worked for me:

  1. Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway: The only way to get used to something is to keep doing it. By repeatedly facing our fears, we can gradually diminish their power over us. I use, not only the fear, but also other emotions as a prompt to create new experiences.
  2. Avoid the Endless Pit of Qualifications: It’s tempting to think that more qualifications or more studying will make us feel more confident. However, this can become an endless cycle. The issue isn’t about our abilities; it’s about our ability to receive and trust ourselves. It is a known fact that people who suffer from this syndrome are generally very highly qualified.
  3. Trust Yourself: Building self-trust is crucial. Recognize your achievements and give yourself credit for your successes. Understand that you are capable and deserving of your accomplishments. In the podcast, we recommend to start a journal, keeping a straight record of what you have created.
  4. Seek Support: Surround yourself with supportive people who can provide encouragement and perspective. Sometimes, an outside perspective can help us see our own worth more clearly. Find a professional like myself who could be your guide in this journey.

Conclusion

Imposter Syndrome is a common experience, but it doesn’t have to hold us back. By facing our fears, trusting ourselves, and seeking support, we can overcome these feelings of inadequacy and continue to grow and create. In fact, we are reframing this energy as something that is reflecting our own integrity in the podcast. Remember, it’s not about being perfect; it’s about being persistent and believing in your own worth.
